A great way to hear back about certain motorcycles or motorcycle parts is by asking around. Ask your friends their opinions of their motorcycles. The names I mentioned are very reliable. You can buy motorcycle parts to update or refurbish an older bike. These don’t depreciate in value like some motorcycles do.

All in all, Motorcycles are a great and reliable choice when investing in a vehicle. They have a great product and a great multitude of different bikes, colors and bodies to choose from. If you go with Honda, you won’t go back.

How Are Tyres Made?

Your car’s tyres provide you with stability, grip, handling, a smooth ride and keep you safe in all conditions. But have you ever wondered how they’re made, and what attributes make a hardwearing, quality tyre?

Tyres are made from up to 200 different raw materials, and several layers, all of which combine to give the tyre the ability to cope with vast pressures and loads as well as dealing with shocks and bumps and keep you driving smoothly. Inside you will find steel bead wires, textile fibre cords and, of course, rubber.

To make the main form of a tyre, synthetic and natural rubber, carbon black, and chemicals are used, along with various specialised components to create a firm, hardwearing base.

Steel bead wires are responsible for holding the tyre onto the wheel rim and are able to handle 1800kg loads. Up to 1400 textile fibre cords are layered within each tyre, some reinforced with steel and covered in rubber. These circular layers are what make up the classic ‘radial tyre’. Each cord can resist pressure of up to 15kg.

The sidewall will be moulded or embossed with important details and data, including the name of the manufacturer, government warning labels, tyre size, speed and load details. This allows you to easily find the right size tyre for your vehicle (which will be written in your car’s handbook) when you need to buy replacements.

Above all this, you have your tread band and groove design, which are very important in terms of grip, handling, wear and tear and friction. The grooves also help channel water away from the surface of the tyre, which helps your vehicle to grip the road in bad weather.

Winter tyres are made from a different compound which enables them to remain flexible below temperatures of 7 degrees Celsius. This means they will grip much better on wet, icy or snow-covered roads and resist the harsh erosive effects of wet weather and salt.

All tyres are not created equal, and premium tyres will perform better, last longer and provide you with much improved stability and precision steering. But there’s absolutely no reason why they should cost an arm and a leg! Online tyre suppliers stock many top brand tyres at cheap prices, and offer a quick service – either at your nearest garage or via mobile tyre fitting vans which will come to you wherever you are.

Painting a Faux Copy of an Artistic Masterpiece for Filmmaking

I have a technique that I’ve used several times to fake expensive paintings as background props. If you don’t have any painting experience, have an art student do it for best results. These faux paintings can add a great deal of life and authenticity to a set. They can also cover huge chunks of blank wall.

First a little warning if you’re making a duplicate of a painting less than 75 years old (for an ironic example, an Andy Warhol) – don’t make an exact duplicate. If you make an exact copy of any painting you can get into copyright trouble. I would suggest you make a ‘Warhol-like’ painting and you’ll be fine.

Follow these steps:

1. Put Together a Frame – Cut 2″ x 2″ beams of wood into four lengths that match the desired size and (more importantly) ratio of the artwork. If you preserve the proportions of the work, you can make it almost any size you want and it will look right. Hammer the four beams together for a frame.

2. Buy Painter’s Canvas – At your local home warehouse, buy a house painter’s canvas drop cloth. You can get large pieces very inexpensively (for example, 9 foot x 12 foot is usually around $25). Note that the drop cloth often has a seam in the longest direction, so you will probably get two large sheets (for example, two 9 foot x 6 foot sheets) from one cloth.

3. Staple the Canvas to the Frame – A staple gun works well for punching through the canvas into the wood. Start by stapling the canvas at the center of each side (like a cross), so the first staple will go in the outward side of the bottom board. Staple in the center of the length (for example, on a 6 foot long bottom board, the staple would be located 3 feet from the side). Pull the canvas tight and put the second staple at the top center. Then the left side center and finally the right side center. Further staples should progress outward to the edges as you pull the canvas tight.

4. Spray the Back of the Canvas with Water – Fill a spray bottle with water and spray the back of the canvas. When the water dries, the canvas will shrink and pull itself tight against the frame.

5. Paint the Face with Gesso – Paint the face of the canvas with two coats of gesso. Gesso provides the foundation of the painting and will keep the paint from soaking into the canvas. If a close-up of the painting is required, use fine sandpaper to sand the surface until it’s smooth.

6. Get a Small Picture of the Artwork – The size of the picture will be determined by the size your tracing projector can handle. My projector can handle a 3.5 inch x 3.5 inch piece of artwork.

7. Project the Artwork onto the Canvas and Trace – You can buy an inexpensive projection tracer at most craft or hobby stores. I use the Artograph Tracer JR. Opaque Art Projector that cost me around $30 (on sale). Use a thick pencil or charcoal pencil to trace the outline of the artwork onto the canvas surface.

8. Paint the Work – This is usually easier than it seems. Most artwork is shown in the background, so a fairly good facsimile can be managed with acrylic paint even if the original is made with lush oils. While you’re working, stand back from the artwork often and squint your eyes. It will give you an impression of how the work will appear on film. Obviously the closer the work will be photographed by the camera, the more painting time will be required to make it pass for the real thing.

This process may seem complicated at first, but it actually goes pretty quickly. You can often manage a passable reproduction in about four hours.

Domestic Abuse Treatment – Violation to Respect – Breaking the Cycle of Verbal Abuse in Marriage

“If there is something I want from her, I can let her know without bullying, attacking, threatening or belittling her.” Sounds like a dream come true, doesn’t it?

This is the observation of one middle-aged successful businessman in domestic abuse counseling three months into the intervention. Imagine your spouse doing the same.

Why Do People Resort to Violating Others to Get What They Want?

The answer to this question holds the insight into this man’s transformation. At the core is a belief that what one wants will not be forthcoming on its own. Now this can come from history within the relationship and/or personal history in general.

It may have to do with deservingness issues laid over entitlement beliefs. Invariably, one is convinced that interactional intimate relationship success rests in the use of force to overpower another into submission.

We hear the term “power and control” tactics in domestic abuse circles to describe the means to establish and maintain an unequal distribution of power within an intimate relationship. And we know from psychology that at the core of this drive for overpowering another is the experience of inner impotence and personal vulnerability.

Respecting and Honoring Other as a Means to Satisfying Self

Let’s say for a moment that your spouse lifted his pressure strategies and instead held patient presence awaiting your reply to his requests. And further, let’s imagine that you no longer need to jump in delivering against your will to appease, or hide behind your truth with indecision.

What would it take to create this interaction pattern? From our work with couples, we see that when one holds reverence for communion with their partner over winning, then mutual honoring and respect are naturally cultivated over time.

I am convinced in doing abusive relationship therapy that this can be taught if the people involved seek a successful outcome and hold as their ultimate goal a commitment to their relationship.

If you are in an abusive relationship and you and your partner have not yet thrown the towel in on your marriage, consider domestic abuse treatment while you still have a chance to save your relationship.

Mock and Awe – It’s a Mistake

Not long ago, the screenplay writer who wrote Gilligan’s Island, Happy Days, and the Brady Bunch had passed away. He had brought quite a wonderful thing to American society, and injected good values in all of his writings. It seemed there was a lesson in every single episode. Then things changed, and we went into the era of nastier sitcoms, and the writers had changed too, instead of lessons involved in the shows, it was all about who could cut the other person down, and get in the last laugh.

What’s unfortunate about this is that people imitate what they see on TV.

We all know that television has had a profound effect on American society, and globally as well. Often, the television has been used for good things, but in the case of situational comedies it has detracted from the family unit, pulled people apart, created animosity, and all of that has played out in the real world. We see it today with negative political attack ads, in Internet forums, and there are a lot of folks with hurt feelings. Running around mocking your fellow citizen is not wise, and it also Institutes the revenge factor.

“Mock and Awe”

Mocking another human being, a friend, an associate, or someone in your office at work is not a wise thing to do. Yes, the individual who gets the last laugh, or creates the greatest put-down is often admired by others, but I would suggest and submit to you that people didn’t like it when that was done to them in high school, and they still don’t enjoy being mocked in adulthood. When we look around on TV, and this latest era of reality TV shows, all we see is more of the same.

Indeed, it’s all been a terrible mistake, and it’s far too late to go around and blame the screen writers Guild in Hollywood, or the directors that put forth the movies and TV shows which people mimic in the real world. Rather, I would suggest to you that it’s time to change this nonsense, bring a little humility, respect, and courtesy back to our society, and that goes for online social networks as well. We hear all the time people complain about bullying, but where does it all start?

They say that sticks and stones will not break your bones, and names will never hurt you, but apparently that isn’t true. It seems people are quite upset these days, and now are calling for anti-bullying laws online, and trying to dictate people‘s free speech, reduce the hostility, and mean-spirited comments online. Yes, it would be nice if people controlled themselves, but race baiting after all these years of “mock and awe” doesn’t seem appropriate either. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

Online Dating At The End of the Rainbow

The journey to healthy online dating, intimate, social and personal relationships starts at the beginning of the rainbow. Experiencing the joy of childbirth is analogous to viewing a beautiful rainbow. Many women love being pregnant! They feel sexy and sensual, busty and beautiful. Furthermore, every time they gaze upon their expanding bellies they must realize part two of this phenomenal and splendid act is about to commence.

Many loving and responsible parents verbalize the same statement, in anticipation of the birth of their newborn. “I want to give my son or daughter those things I never had”, is a universal statement. The statement made by parent’s echoes around the world. During the elation of the newborn, we fail to realize our traditional ways may have a negative impact on our newborn’s disposition, as she/he develops.

Manipulated by tradition, we believe there is no other means to an end other than the way of those who went before us. Fraud, manipulation, and deception have led us to believe that it is appropriate behavior to expose our children to fairy tales. We also accepted the belief that fairy tales are morality tales that will strengthen the moral disposition of our children. This statement is far from the truth, as children around the world who are exposed to fairy tales grow-up trying to unravel the complexities in their lives caused by being trapped in the fairy tale syndrome.

Our Fantasies Begin to Dominate Our Minds;

Our Desires Dominate Reason;

We begin to See Life;

As We Desire Life to Be.

Fairy tales and fictional characters harbor illusions in our minds, constantly generating a false sense of reality. We begin to believe what we imagine to be real, loosing all perspective of reality. If we fail to focus on the moment (reality), we may experience severe agony in the future. We are always concentrating on imaginary future events as the present moment and its life giving lessons pass us by. We find our dating relationships crumbling to pieces and we do not know why. We wake-up in a state of dizziness; our dating relationships resemble the workings of a revolving door, everyone is jumping on and off and it seems like life is spinning out of control.

Our fantasies begin to dominate our minds; our desires dominate reason; we begin to see life, as we desire life to be. We begin to fantasize about the type of intimate relationships we are going to have even taking it to the extent of perceiving how we are going to act within the relationships. We create images in our minds, fantasizing about our knight in shining armor, or a Britney Spears look alike, or just the girl next door. We begin to fantasize about all sorts of things. It is similar to parachute jumping without a parachute. It is an enormous mistake because every action has a reaction. Not knowing what the next moment will bring, places us in an unprotected state.

When our fantasies fail to turn into reality, intoxicants seems to be an alternative. Our relationships with others turn sour and we turn on our best friends (even our imaginary ones). Fear increases, as well as our imaginary fears about future events that will never happen. Life for many becomes fragmented and unpleasant. We begin to experience a feeling of hopelessness, worthlessness, and pessimism. The aforementioned is the reaction to focusing on our desires (fantasies) instead of reality.

“In United States 44.3 million people,

18 and older–about 1 in 5 adults,

suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder”

According to the National Institute of Mental Health,” mental disorders are common in the United States and internationally. An estimated 22.1 percent of Americans ages 18 and older–about 1 in 5 adults–suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year. When applied to the 1998 U.S. Census residential population estimate, this figure translates to 44.3 million people. In addition, 4 of the 10 leading causes of disability in the U.S. and other developed countries are mental disorders–major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Many people suffer from more than one mental disorder at a given time.” There is no surprise.

As the rainbow appears to fade away, the beautiful picture is no longer clear. What is now apparent is reality. Reality is tolerable when we accept it. Reality only becomes unbearable when we refuse to accept it. For those who are planning to experience that beautiful rainbow on the horizon, remember that universal statement “I want to give my son or daughter those things I never had”.

We must give our children the opportunity to experience healthy dating relationships and embrace reality by encouraging them to focus and live in the moment. Denied were many the opportunities to learn the truth about the harmful effects of fairy tales, fiction, and desires. Countless dating relationships and marriages have ended as nightmares because of a universal misconception, that is, children grow out of everything. Children do not grow out of anything (except clothing) and they just grow into other things. Fairy tales, fantasies, and fiction are vehicles that cause our children to experience gross disappointments in life and destroy any hope of a healthy dating relationship. We must ask ourselves the question; do we want to foster disappointments and blameworthy characteristics in our children? Let us build healthy online dating relationships together. Stay tuned!

Enjoying Being Single for a More Successful Life

Who said being single is a disadvantage or something to be ashamed of? Who said single life prevents you from being successful in life? Single-hood is a stage in one’s life that determines how fruitful the future will be. It is a stage you must make most of while you can.

Being married is wonderful but the success of any marriage is determined to a great extent what transpired in your life as a single. Enjoying being single while you are one will make you a happier married person. Love yourself in every stage of your life, including the single stage of your life.

You are complete and whole as a single and can enjoy a most successful life. Yes, to be married is great but if you are not yet one, it does not stop you from setting high goals and achieving them. In fact, being single gives you the time and energy to pursue and realise your dreams. Who knows? You may even meet your Mr or Miss right in the process of pursuing your dreams.

The stage of single life is a time to discover who you really are, your purpose in life. It is a time to plan on how to fulfil your destiny and be successful in life. It is indeed a preparatory stage for a successful life. What you put in at this stage will determine the result you get in future even when you are finally married.

Many people are depressed and miserable because they are still single at a particular age. This I must say may even be the reason why they are still single. Every man or woman will want to share the rest of their lives with a cheerful and happy person. Enjoying being single will always make your face to shine. You will think positively and be a blessing to the people around you.

Single life is a blessing. Life is all about contribution. What are you contributing now as a single? Many people are looking up to you to lead them in the right direction. Will you disappoint them just because you are not yet married?

Also, there are many things you can do for God being single. Some of these things will be difficult if not impossible to be done when you are married. A married person cares about being a better spouse and parent but a single person only cares about pleasing God as Paul said in I Cor 7: 32-34. God is looking for available people to work for His kingdom and the singles are available more than the married ones.

Enjoying being single is a must for a more successful life. The world will not remember you for being married but for the contributions you made into people’s lives. Enjoy your single life and make the most of it.

What Does An Audio Engineer Do When Mastering Music?

So you’re a musician that just recorded your first album. You probably went into a recording studio and played all of your parts a couple of times, with the audio engineer handling all of the technical stuff. As far as you know, they should be able to take all the parts they recorded, burn it to a disc, and then it should be ready to press. While this isn’t completely wrong, most professional musicians take their mixed down recording and pass it off to someone else for mastering.

What is mastering?

Mastering is the final step in the production of an album where they add the final “polish” to the recording. This is done by technically enhancing the clarity of the mixes. This makes the compilation of songs sound more coherent, more “together”. This also ensures that the mixes sound well on all listening devices.

Well, that’s all fine and dandy, but does a professional mastering technician do when mastering a recording?

1. Volume Level Maximization

This is to make sure that all audio is at maximum volume, so that all songs are at the same volume level. Ever watch late night TV, where the volume of the commercials are a couple notches higher than the show you were watching? If a professional mastering engineer was involved, they would raise the volume of TV show to match the volume of the commercials.

2. Ensuring a Consistent Balance of Frequencies

This ensures that all frequencies are accounted for in the recording; bass, mids, and treble, so that there are no areas where there is no bass/mids/treble.

3. Noise Reduction

This is the process of removing noise from an audio signal. When using analog technology, sound recordings exhibit a type of noise known as tape hiss. This is related to the particle size and texture used in the magnetic emulsion that is sprayed on the recording media, and also to the relative tape velocity across the tape heads.

4. Encoding

A professional mastering lab may also take your recording and encode the UPC (Universal Product Code), ISRC (International Standard Recording Code), CD Text (additional information about the CD, e.g. album name, song name, and artist name) or other PQ information.

5. Error Checking

This ensures the integrity of the data stream during CD duplication / replication at any CD manufacturing plant.

Still confused about what a professional mastering engineer does to your CD audio recording when you hand it off to them? Don’t worry, audio mastering is a very complicated process. I just hope that you better understand why professional mastering is an integral part of the whole audio production process. It can make a world of difference!

How to Gain Value When Betting

The Pursuit of Value is without a doubt the most important thing when betting

To fully understand this you will need to apply Basic Mathematics to all of your betting. The Math we are talking about is basic schoolroom stuff.

Quite often those who bet will fail to see the connection between fractional odds and percentages.

For example-

The odds of 4/1 represent a 20% chance of winning.

Therefore if a bet is offered with odds of 4/1 what we are really being told is that in the Opinion of the Odds Compiler, Bookmaker or Betting Market is that this selection is reckoned to have a 20% chance of winning.

However all bets have a flipside

So if the bettor accepts the offered odds of 4/1 or 20%. Then the other party known as the Layer or Bookmaker must be taking the odds or risk. These are known as opposing odds of 1/4 or 80%.

The chance of winning

The party who accepts odds of 1/4 will have an 80% chance of winning and the opposing party who has odds of 4/1 has a 20% chance of winning. Providing the Compilers Opinion is correct!

Now Re-write the rule book

This is where we need to throw the rule book out of the window and think a little outside of the box.

We need to re evaluate what we are being told.

We need to make up our own tissue or credible prices according to our own opinions based on pre conceived chance of winning.

In order to do this we need to ask ourselves the following questions.

· Do we agree with the prices?

· Does the selection have a greater or smaller chance than is on offered in the odds available?

· Is the favourite really the best selection based on form available for assessment?

If the answer to any of these question is No or not sure then there is a very good chance that some Value can be obtained.

Creating a price tissue

Basically to create tissue prices we need to assess the number of selections in the market, for example- a horse race with 8 runners would obviously have 8 selections to choose from.

But how many actually have a realistic chance of winning?

Let us assume that our opinion is that 3 horses have a realistic chance of success.

Therefore each of these should at this stage have a 100/30 or 1 in 3 chance of winning.

If one of the 3 horses, offer odds which are more than 100/30 you may be able to gain some value from that selection.

This can be tweaked so that one of the top 3 horses is viewed to be the favourite and therefore will have the shortest odds on offer.

Each price for the remaining horses increase in the order of where you predict they will finish the race.

The total percentages of all 8 selections should add up to 100% plus the over round. This is known as the “Book.”

Finding Value

Let us assume that the odds of 4/1 or 20% are being offered on a certain betting outcome.

And we actually think the real chance of that selection winning is 3/1 or 25% then the odds offered seem to offer some value because we are able to take advantage of a better price.

This works in an opposite manner if you are being offered 4/1 when the realistic price should be higher a bet would usually not be offering any value in the price.

And finally, if the favourite does not really appear to be a true favourite based on all the information available then all the prices on all other outcomes must in theory offer some value.

The best approach to finding value is to see it from the eyes of the bookmaker or the odds compiler
